Air and Acoustic Sealing
Air sealing involves the use of materials and techniques to prevent the unwanted passage of air through the building envelope, including walls, floors, ceilings, doors, and windows. Air leakage can occur through cracks, gaps, joints, and penetrations in the building assembly, leading to energy inefficiency, compromised indoor air quality, and reduced comfort levels.
In the event of a fire, air sealing will significantly decrease the spread of smoke and flames therefore reducing the chance of injury.
An increase in air quality and the reduction of heating and cooloing costs are other attributed benefits to air sealing.
